Kevin Biermann, O.D.
Dr. Kevin Biermann received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2005. He graduated from the University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry in 2009. While at UMSL, Dr. Biermann was able to perform an ocular disease clinical externship at The Saint Louis University Eye Center, an ocular disease clinical externship at The Chickasaw Nation Medical Center in Ada, OK, a specialty contact lens clinical externship at John Mountford Optometrists in Brisbane Australia, and a vision therapy clinical externship with Ron Bateman O.D. in Fort Collins, CO.
Before purchasing Sumner Primary Eyecare, Dr. Biermann owned a practice in Warrenton, MO.
Dr. Biermann is a Washington native. He, his wife, Jennifer, and their 4 children live in Washington.
In his free time, Dr. Biermann enjoys spending time with his family, fanatically cheering on the Missouri Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals, snow skiing, golfing, and serving on local community boards.
Dr. Biermann is thrilled to be practicing in his hometown and owning the practice he went to growing up.
Brian Sumner, O.D.
Dr. Sumner graduated from Illinois College Optometry in 1978 and joined the practice in 1980. The practice had been established in Washington in 1945, and Dr. Sumner soon became an owner. Dr. Sumner owned the practice until 2020, when he sold it to Dr. Biermann. Dr. Sumner still sees patients and still loves patient care and the relationships he has established over the past 40 years.
In his free time, Dr. Sumner spends time travelling with his wife and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Lizabeth “Libby” Marquart O.D.
Dr. Lizabeth “Libby” Marquart was born and raised in Washington, Missouri. She graduated from Washington High School in 2012 before earning her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Truman State University in 2016. She went on to receive her Doctor of Optometry degree from UMSL in 2021, where she gained clinical experience through externships in ocular disease, pediatrics, low vision, and specialty contact lenses. Prior to joining Biermann Eye Health, Dr. Marquart spent five years providing comprehensive eye care to patients in Eureka, Missouri.
Her passion for optometry originally began at just 16 years old when she shadowed Dr. Sumner and later joined the practice as an optometric technician. Returning to work in the same practice where her interest was first piqued is a wonderful full-circle moment!
In her free time, Dr. Marquart enjoys reading, listening to true crime podcasts, and thrift shopping. She lives in the Washington area with her husband and children, and she looks forward to providing personalized eye care to her neighbors and friends at Biermann Eye Health.
