LASIK and Refractive Surgery

Biermann Eye Health is proud to partner with Brinton Vision to provide refractive surgery for our patients. We actively co-manage the following procedures with Dr. Brinton.

LASIK – ages 18-50

LASIK, an acronym for laser in situ keratomileuses, is now one of the most successful medical treatments in the world. We perform only the most advanced form of this life-changing surgery, Sub-Bowman’s Keratomileusis (SBK).

PRK – ages 18-50

Photorefractive keratectomy, or PRK, is a laser vision correction solution available for a subset of laser eye surgery candidates who have special considerations such as an interest in particular branches of the armed forces or thin/irregular corneal shape.

Implantable Contact Lens (ICL) – ages 15-50

ICLs, also known as permanent contact lenses, correct a wide range of prescriptions and can be a good choice for patients with thin or irregular corneas, high nearsightedness or high astigmatism. Dr Brinton is internationally recognized for his expertise with this procedure.

SMILE – ages 18-50

SMILE is an acronym for Small-Incision Lenticule Extraction, a laser eye surgery procedure that, in approximately 23 seconds, treats patients with myopia, or nearsightedness, and astigmatism.

Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) – age 50+

Thanks to incredible advances in technology and science, a procedure called Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) can not only resolve age-related, “over 40” vision problems we develop over time, but also prevents the formation of cataracts and therefore is a long-term vision correction option.

KAMRA Inlay – ages 40-59

The KAMRA® inlay is a safe, proven, and lasting solution to correct over 40 vision and restore your everyday near vision. KAMRA® is an opaque mini-ring with an opening, or pinhole, in the center.

LRI – age 40+

Limbal Relaxing Incision can be a solution for patients with astigmatism. By creating small incisions in the cornea, it can help relax and reshape the cornea to reduce astigmatism and visual strain.
